B+J Rear Yard - Rozelle NSW

With indoor living space at such a premium in many of the inner-city suburbs of Sydney, much of the dining and entertaining occurs in backyards. So it makes perfect sense for these spaces to be as welcoming and useful as possible.

Spotted gum was chosen for decking and seating. Paired with large-scale natural stone pavers in order to make this fairly small yard feel as large as possible - and to allow the green backdrop to define the space.

Consideration for how the space would be lit at night was also chief during the design and construction. Subtle, low wattage LED lighting was added to highlight the the vertical planes of the design, allowing the space to be softly and elegantly lit from below.
