Bathroom & European Laundry Design + Build
What is achievable within a project of this nature is heavily dictated by pre-existing structures and services. This bathroom is a complete re-imagining and re-build of three disparate spaces within the home. We took what presented as a major problem - the plumbing and waste services for the above master ensuite, and an existing supporting internal wall - and transformed them into a design feature. The room-within-a-room is practical solution on many levels, chiefly, isolating the 'wet area' whilst providing a sense of intimacy within the space when showering or bathing.
The concealed 'European' style laundry is also perfectly functional and takes up little floor space. In addition, to a very generous built-in cupboard space adjacent to the laundry, for a variety of household storage. The sliding doors concealing the 'back of house' add a welcome feature to this large space. Head height of all new elements - doors, windows, architraves, pavillion opening - is consistent, neatly tying in the competing angles within the overall design.
Our design savvy client, Gabrielle, had a certain 70's aesthetic she wanted to explore within the space, which led to the combination of green, brass fittings and fixtures, salmon and gold flecked marble. The result is bold, but retains femininity, particularly with soft furnishing items in place.
