'She Oaks' - Kangaroo Valley NSW

This is precisely the kind of open brief we love. Our clients are brave, and willing to explore options that are not always safe or predictable. The temptation for many would have been to start with a predominantly neutral kitchen and expand the palette throughout the home from there. But the sheer architectural scale of this home demanded a more assured statement.

We started by replacing the large format terracotta floor tiles in the kitchen and large hallway areas with raw, wide-board European Oak, finished to an exacting colour to compliment the magnificent vaulted timber ceilings featured throughout the living areas. Large sliding timber doors and a corresponding window were added to the external wall to increase light, access and amenity.
A rich, texturally diverse, palette of deep green/blue, espresso, aged brass and timber accents was employed. The patinated aged brass featuring in the custom designed and manaufactured island benchtop with moulded in sinks, commanding 120cm wide rangehood (positioned above the equally generous 120cm recessed gas hob), cabinetry hardware, tapware, and accent lighting.

We also sourced - and arranged for the sensitive restoration of - the magnificent mid-century Danish Rosewood dining table and chairs that now compliment the finished space. In addition, we assisted with the selection of all appliances, to ensure they too complimented the overall design.

Along with design, all project management, building work and joinery was undertaken by THINKSPACE. Our happy clients love their new kitchen, and regularly tell us that it has changed the feeling and presence of the entire house - rewarding in itself.
Further phases of this inspiring project are underway, and we look forward to sharing the transformations as they come to fruition.
