Architectural & Interior Design

B+D House - Frenchs Forest NSW DA Approved
Much of the vernacular 1970's architecture once so prominent in the suburbs of Sydney has been knocked down, rendered over, or stripped of any clues to to it's origins or history. It was refreshing to receive a brief for a renovation and addition to a family home which didn't call for the total abolition of it's original character.
With the exception of new window treatments to the lower front fascia, this 3 bedroom home remains largely unchanged - with the original blonde brick construction being embraced and celebrated. Detailed cladding and natural timber features have been adopted throughout to add texture to the material palette. We have also produced a landscape/planting design featuring stone clad stairs and terraced garden beds to compliment the sloping block, with plantings that augment the existing mature trees.
Small interior changes have opened up existing living spaces, with the new addition featuring a very large living space, generous master suite with ensuite and plentiful built-in storage, and a fifth bedroom/office space. Downstairs there is a new laundry with additional WC and immediate access to both the garage and the rear yard and pool area, and an outdoor shower. A double carport with drive through garage access, and a carefully planned consideration of the streetscape finish off the transformation.
