This lovely and much-loved 1950's Mountains cottage - and it's magnificent gardens - are a picture of the graceful elegance of the period. The owner was keen to create an interior environment which celebrated the largely untouched architecture of the house, and captured the spirit of relaxed life in the Blue Mountains during that period.

In response to this we removed many of the fixtures and fittings which were not original to the home - lighting, door and cabinetry hardware, curtain rails etc. - and sourced original vintage hardware and fixtures which, although not all native to the period of this home, feel right. Some judicious painting was also undertaken - including painting the original wallpaper to retain it's beautiful texture.

 

An array of significant vintage furniture by well regarded Australian and international designers and makers, along with objects and artworks were carefully assembled and curated to ensure the home does not feel simply like a pastiche of mid-century life.
The interiors are rich, warm and welcoming. Finally we named the property, and developed an identity and subsequent marketing materilas. 'Blomst' ('Bloom' in Scandinavian) now functions as both a very successful Airbnb, and a much cherished excape from
city life for it's happy owner.
